Tey Cai Wei (Cheng) is a 29-year-old lady who was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in May 2010. Cheng had undergone four chemotherapies between the days of May 2010 and January 2011, hoping that she could recover by then. Her mother had exhausted nearly RM 80, 000 of her savings to treat Cheng but unfortunately, Cheng suffered a relapse in this year August. The doctor in charge of Cheng advised that Cheng has to undergo stem cell transplant surgery which would cost her around RM 200,000. Being brought up by her single mother, Cheng has no other siblings or relatives to look for any stem cell donors. The doctor in charge of Cheng has to search suitable stem cell from the international stem cell donor organization which will cost them around RM 200, 000. They are really anxious about the fund as Cheng’s mother had spent all her savings on the previous treatments. And now they need another RM 200, 000 to treat this illness.

Cheng had quitted her job as a marketing executive to treat her illness. Cheng’s mother was forced to continue to earn a living. However, Cheng had to undergo chemotherapy again before the transplant surgery and that had resulted Cheng in an extremely weak condition. Since then, Cheng’s mother decided to give up her job to take good care of Cheng; Cheng is unable to consume any solid foods and is unable to walk too. Consequently, there is no income for Cheng and her mother.

To date, they have spent approximately RM 80,000 for the medical expenses and transportation fees. Both Cheng and her mother are unemployed currently and they cannot afford this large amount of medical fees. Yayasan Nanyang Press, hereby, urges any supporting readers to give them a helping hand.
